This generation is OBSESSED with the internet. We can’t do anything without taking a picture of it, tweeting it, or SHARING it. Recently, Beyonce told a fan in the audience of one of her concerts to put their camera down and simply take in the moment….”I’m right here in your face,” she told the fan. Beyonce was in their FACE, and they couldn’t even look at her directly, because their phone was blocking their view. Why do we feel that we have to let everyone know what we’re doing all of the time?
Nowadays, there has been a growing trend of criminals posting their illegal acts on the internet, and well…GETTING CAUGHT. How stupid can you be, right? Personally, I’ve seen a lot of people that I follow on Instagram and Twitter posting pics of weed, of them driving while drinking, etc. That just isn’t smart. But yesterday, the most shocking and unsettling post that has probably ever been on Facebook was posted by Derek Medina, a 31 year old man from Southern Florida.
Derek Medina shot and killed his wife, 26 year old Jennifer Alfonso, and YES, he posted it on Facebook. After Alfonso told Medina that she was leaving him, the couple engaged in a scuffle, and Medina shot his wife in cold blood.
Not only did this guy commit MURDER, but he had the nerve to POST it on Facebook! Where do we draw the line about what we are willing to share, and how we share it?? Are we THAT obsessed with social media that we are willing to post the most gruesome and unflattering details about our lives? I for one, am disgusted, and am thinking about trying to cut back on social media for a while. It has become an addiction!
