So, in my old age, I’ve come to hate the club, and absolutely ADORE a good bar. The other night, I had the pleasure of going on a nice date at a restaurant/bar called Smith Commons. It was great! Upon entering, I felt a nice, warm vibe. The patrons all seemed to be having a good time, and you could tell that most of them were regulars. They had an awesome rapport with one another, and it was incredibly obvious. A former bartender/waitress, myself, I was very impressed with the wait staff. Every one was friendly and enthusiastic. Our bartender, “Tito” was veerrrrry animated. He and all of the other bartenders were behind the bar doing all kinds of tricks, making jokes, and speaking Spanish the whole night. I was very entertained. I don’t know how important decor is to other people when a bar is concerned, but I must say, the interior design is to die for! Houndstooth chairs, huge, luxurious couches, and cherry wood tables all laid out on shiny wood floors, against exposed brick.
The lighting is dim and comfy, perfect for relaxing and enjoying a nice drink. And the drinks, by the way, are perfection! One of my faves is the “Tequila Crustal”….I only have two bad things to say about the whole experience…the appetizers are SMALL for the semi-high prices, and parking is impossible! Located at 1245 H st. N.E., Washington, D.C., a developing area, there is absolutely nowhere to park, EVER! So just a bit of advice, if you have dinner plans, or a hot date, leave EARLY enough to find parking, it will take at least 20 minutes! Overall though, Smith Commons gets two thumbs up from me. I will definitely be a regular there.

Way to go baby! This is when you know maturity is setting in!! It’s like going from “boys to men.” While clubs are great for dancing, a BAR is where shit happens!
